I'm new to Tumblr, can you explain it to me?

Lots of different people use tumblr. What they use it for depends on your interests. I have had a tumblr for about a week and I am slowly acquiring more followers. The key is to reblog and like posts by people who share your interests or follow people who are kind to their followers. I quickly found out that making your blog personal but no too is good. Upload a photo, participate in a challenge, or write something like a quote. You can use your own stuff or find things via the internet that you want to share. Unfortunately I haven't come across a popular blog that didn't have some form of originality. Whether it is the comment you post on a reblog, the questions you answer, or personal uploads it is important to your status. The reason why your gender helps with your views is because ladies stalk tumblr crushes. Basically if you find a good community that you like then you are set. My followers are people who share my life. It basically is a friendship. Don't follow someone who you wouldn't be friends with in real life.
