Can someone identify this machete?

I can barely read the description on the blade. It is engraved and it has a small crown it says "legitimus" "Collins & Co. Hartford" a Spanish word that starts with an "a" and ends in "rino" "calidad garantizada" "No. 22. It measures about 30 in. overall. I think the hilt is made of bone or wood. I think it was made before 1940. But I don't know for sure. I want to know a date, and possibly a description of it's use.
